Role Purpose
The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. He/She is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, assisting chefs with basic preparation, and ensuring all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas are kept clean, safe, and organised. This position is key to maintaining hygiene and operational flow within the culinary team at La Ferme and Fee Challer.
Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Maintenance
Wash and sanitise all dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, storage rooms, and fridges.
Ensure proper waste separation and disposal according to recycling and hygiene standards.
Assist in deep cleaning schedules and follow daily cleaning checklists.
Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely, following all safety procedures.
Support to Kitchen Operations
Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, or portioning when required.
Refill and organise stock items (plates, cutlery, cleaning materials) during and after service.
Ensure all kitchen equipment and machinery are clean and in working condition.
Report any damages, shortages, or maintenance issues promptly to supervisors.
Health, Safety & Hygiene
Follow all hygiene, HACCP, and safety protocols at all times.
Keep dishwashing and storage areas clean, dry, and organised.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety signage and instructions.
Support the kitchen team in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for food production.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with chefs and service staff to ensure efficient kitchen flow.
Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
Assist other team members when required, especially during busy service periods.
Communicate clearly and respectfully with all departments.
Profile & Experience
Previous experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hotel environment preferred but not essential.
Strong sense of hygiene, organisation, and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Basic understanding of English; knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage.
