Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 21 sections, 24 associations and other offices together. Based in Geneva, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF movement, and implements international projects and initiatives as requested.
MSF has produced medical guides for over 25 years. These guides are based on MSF field experience and scientific evidence and most of them target non-specialised staff. Their objective is to disseminate adapted and specialized knowledge to teams working in the field. MSF’s international guides, drafted with the participation of all MSF Operational Centres, are produced by the International Guidelines Publications (IGP) team and may be for either MSF internal use only or public distribution. There are currently 8 international MSF guides selected for public distribution and 14 for internal MSF distribution only.
Over recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of projects developed in Arabic speaking countries, mainly in the Middle East region. This has led to an ever pressing demand for resources -specifically medical protocols- in Arabic for use in these projects. Given the continuous monthly updating of two key guides (Essential drugs and Clinical guidelines), the regular updating of other existing guides and the future translation of other publications a permanent Arabic translator is needed to ensure consistency and coherence across all publications in Arabic in the collection.
MSF International is therefore seeking an Arabic translator/editor to work on the Arabic translation of MSF’s international guides (public and internal) as well as the content of
