The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for an Assistant Professorship with Tenure Track in Engineered Immunotherapy, to be filled at the earliest possible date. The assistant professor will lead the newly established Center for Engineered Immunology (CEI), which is part of the University of Zurich's TRANSFORM program. The position includes a 50% clinical appointment as a senior physician at the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Zurich. The professorship will represent the field of neuro-oncology and neuroimmunology in research and teaching.
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative individual with extensive scientific and clinical experience in the fields of neuro-oncology and neuroimmunology. The successful candidate will have a strong research focus on the preclinical and clinical development of innovative immunological therapies, as evidenced by publications in leading international journals. A track record of successfully leading a research group and obtaining competitive external funding is expected. Applicants must hold a specialist qualification in neurology. Extensive clinical expertise in the care of patients with neuro-oncological and neuro-immunological disorders is essential. Demonstrated teaching experience, particularly in supervising academic theses and mentoring early-career researchers, is also required.
The University of Zurich offers an outstanding environment for cutting-edge research and numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across its faculties and university hospitals. The field of immune engineering brings together key research areas at the University - including oncology, immunology, and neurology - and already enhances Zurich's international visibility. The Precision Medicine focus area of University Medicine Zurich, along with the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ), provides excellent conditions for high-impact research in the professorship's area. A further advantage is the proximity to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH).
Proficiency in German at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
The University of Zurich is an equal opportunity employer and in particular strives to increase the percentage of women in leadership roles. Qualified female researchers are explicitly encouraged to apply.
The University of Zurich views researchers as modern leaders who advance excellent research - in line with Open Science principles - through their own projects as well as by supporting outstanding early-career scientists. Through innovative, research-based teaching, they contribute to shaping a forward-looking university.
