What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational, and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose
The Associate will work within the Accountability, Analysis, and Evidence unit of the Department of Operations. The unit's mandate is to strengthen multidisciplinary, evidence-based, and people-centred programming, ensuring that communities affected by conflict are at the heart of ICRC's operational decisions and actions.
Embedded in operational realities and working across programmes, the Associate helps improve the relevance, timeliness, and effectiveness of humanitarian responses. Under the guidance of the Head of Unit, the Associate helps maintain lean planning and monitoring systems, contributes to communication and knowledge-sharing efforts, and supports selected projects and capacity-building initiatives.
Main duties & responsibilities (1/2)
Technical support

• Provide technical support to programme colleagues to strengthen the use of evidence, including support for data analysis, visualisation, and communication.
• Work closely with GIS and technical solution colleagues to support the design and development of analytical products aligned with operational needs.
• Assist in the configuration and maintenance of data collection tools and analytical products.
• Liaise with stakeholders to understand requirements related to data collection, analytics, and visualisation.
• Support the drafting and revision of institutional methodologies through research, editing, and consolidation of feedback.
• Contribute to capacity-building and training initiatives organised by the unit.

Communication & outreach

• Contribute to communication, outreach, and knowledge-management activities.
• Draft, edit, and format a range of materials, including briefing notes, newsletters, case studies, and institutional papers, for internal and external audiences.

Main duties & responsibilities (2/2)
Monitoring and reporting

• Support the maintenance and improvement of systems related to strategy implementation, work plans, and internal deadlines.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports and factsheets and support their dissemination to internal stakeholders, including departments, leadership, and donors.

Coordination & support

• Support the organisation of key events (e.g., annual meetings, workshops) and coordination of team activities.
• Provide administrative and coordination support to ongoing projects and research.
• Perform additional tasks, including administrative duties, as required to ensure the unit's smooth functioning.

Your education & experience

• University degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, economics, statistics, or related disciplines).
• Initial experience or strong interest in project coordination or project management.
• Good computer proficiency (MS Office); experience or familiarity with analytical and data-visualisation tools is an asset.
• Experience with collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., planning tools, online collaboration platforms) is an asset.
• Fluent command of English; knowledge of French, Spanish, and/or Arabic is an advantage.

Position details

• Location: Geneva, Switzerland
• Activity rate: 100%
• Estimated start date: ASAP - Q1 2026
• Length of assignment: 12 months
• Visa/permit: Legitimation card - provided
• Gross monthly salary: CHF 3'934 (13 salaries per year)
