As an Authorizing Engineer, you are accountable for electrical and mechanical safety across our data center environments, ensuring that all work is carried out in line with legislation, industry standards, and company policies. You define, govern, and enforce the Safe System of Work and own the Electrical Safety Rules, ensuring they are current, clearly communicated, and consistently applied across all sites.
You act as the senior authority and trusted advisor for electrical safety, supporting Operations and Projects during complex maintenance, incidents, lifecycle activities, and construction works. The role includes oversight of safety permitting, approval of live working, and assurance that critical infrastructure activities are executed safely.
A key focus is the competence management of Authorized Persons, including training, assessment, appointment, and auditing of SAPs and APs, as well as supporting contractor competence across the supply chain. Through close collaboration with Site Management and Health & Safety teams, you drive risk awareness, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Your Profile
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering; BEng or BSc acceptable)
Recognized electrical apprenticeship or formal craft training
Certified and experienced as an HV and/or LV Authorized Person (AP)
Formal Authorizing Engineer (AE) training and prior AE experience
Minimum 10 years' experience in electrical engineering or data center / building services environments
Certified Authorized Person (HV and/or LV) with completion of AP training
Formal Authorizing Engineer (AE) training and prior AE experience, including SSOW governance
Deep expertise in electrical switching and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) within critical infrastructures
