\\nIntroduction

The University of Lausanne Center of Integrative Genomics (CIG) is a vibrant, well-funded institute with a focus on functional genomics and equipped with modern core facilities (see ). It is embedded in the broader Lausanne research environment that includes two universities (UNIL, EPFL), the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, the Vital-IT high-performance computing center, Ludwig Center for Cancer Research, university hospital, and a cluster of biotech companies flourishing in the larger Lake Geneva area.

Presentation

Our lab at the Center for Integrative Genomics (CIG) of the University of Lausanne is part of the NCCR RNA & Disease research network. Research in our lab and in the network at large has a strong focus on experimental RNA biology, which in many projects includes a variety of -omics approaches (RNA-seq, ribosome profiling, proteomics, etc.). The successful candidate will take a central role in providing computational support for Lausanne- and Geneva-based research groups of the network (50% position) and, depending on his/her desired employment level, will have an additional engagement specifically for projects in the Gatfield group (additional up to 50% position). The focus of our group\\\'s research lies on translational regulation and circadian clocks.

He/she will be located at the CIG and embedded in an environment that is both close to experimental labs and rich in bioinformatics expertise and resources, such as the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) and the Vital-IT high-performance computing center.

He/she will be involved in exchanges with other bioinformatics support sites of the NCCR in Basel, Bern, and Z\\xc3\\xbcrich (see ) and actively participate in scientific events of the NCCR (e.g. annual retreat, Swiss RNA Workshop) and of the CIG/SIB. He/she may be involved in training researchers bioinformatics skills.

Your responsibilities

The successful candidate will closely collaborate with experimentalists involved in the project, while also benefitting from computational expertise in- and outside of the department. In particular, the Gatfield lab is part of the National Centre of Competence in Research RNA & Disease ( ), a Swiss research initiative to strengthen and coordinate its activities in the rapidly evolving area of RNA biology and to obtain a leading position in the translation of knowledge from basic research into medically useful applications. The successful candidate will benefit from NCCR networking and training opportunities throughout Switzerland and from contacts to other leading RNA research labs in Lausanne, Z\\xc3\\xbcrich, Bern, Basel and Geneva.

Your qualifications

The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline in the life sciences. He/she should demonstrate relevant qualifications and experience in computational biology, in particular experience in HTS data analysis, and have a good understanding and keen interest in biological questions; current knowledge of latest software and design standards; ability to define and solve logical problems for technical applications; knowledge of and ability to select, adapt and effectively use a variety of programming methods. We expect him/her to have excellent communication (English) and interpersonal skills.
