About the job

As Business Development Manager, you are fully responsible for ocean main carriage business commercial decisions and executions for North Europe and America regions. You sit in global category management team, contributing to category business plan and strategic movements. You are also an essential part of IKEA supply organization in North Europe and America where you engage stakeholders to deliver collective business results to meet customer needs today and in the future.

You will be leading a team of 10 who are located in 4 countries cross and develop the business with assigned 10+ service providers, constantly drive to develop a high performing team and service provider base to contribute to value chain optimization.

Your assignment as Business Development Manager includes:

  • Leading and acting as a role model that IKEA culture and values are an everyday reality.
  • Securing business objectives according to IKEA supply strategy and actively contribute global category business plan creations, lead North Europe and America regional executions.
  • Leading a team of business developers and service provider operation developers, inspiring and empowering team to perform of their best capabilities. Build and implement leadership and competence plan to meet short- and long-term business needs.
  • Leading optimal Ocean service at lower total costs through innovative and sustainable solutions. Being accountable for performance in all dimensions (prices/ cost, service, sustainability, quality) within North Europe and America region.
  • Establishing and developing effective relationships with selected Service Providers based on IKEA Way of doing business, a shared business model, IKEA values, trust, and transparency.
  • Being accountable for secure relevant market knowledge being constantly gathered and shared with relevant scope of IKEA internal stakeholders.
  • Securing effective collaboration with IKEA internal stakeholders.
  • Leading or contributing to projects or global assignments if applicable. In some cases, can handle additional assignments outside the given scope

You may be the person we are looking for if:
  • You have solid experience in developing logistics and/or supply chain services in a global organisation. Preferably have worked with ocean transportation.
  • You are able to lead and function with remote leadership, you are a global citizen, able to work and lead with multi cultures
  • You are a transformational leader who want to forge ahead, make things happen, who also know that pausing, reflecting and sense of making are as important as actions.
  • You have a growth mind-set who thrives on challenges and see them as springboard for developments.
  • You can build strong collaborations and trustful relationship both internally and externally
  • You are passioned about and have experience in developing people and teams
  • You are fluent in English

This role is full-time (40 hours per week) and based in Pratteln, Switzerland. This role reports to Category Manager, Yuanyuan Zheng.
