About the Role
As a Casualty Treaty Underwriter, you'll balance quantitative and qualitative analysis with relationship-building to deliver meaningful reinsurance solutions. Key Responsibilities
Drive the assessment and pricing of reinsurance treaties
using both quantitative and qualitative analysis
Develop actuarial costings
using available data and incorporating external trends and market insights
Review the contract wording
in line with treaty coverage and guidelines
Source new opportunities
proactively and optimize existing reinsurance programs
Partner with clients and brokers
to find solutions for their needs based on our capabilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams
to ensure product and market insights inform decision-making
Prepare and take
underwriting decisions and develop portfolio strategies
in line with our risk appetite
Stay ahead of industry developments
and contribute to product innovation and Casualty market positioning
About the Team
We are part of the Reinsurance Casualty Treaty Underwriting unit working closely with other underwriting units, transactions team, and various business functions. We focus on clients across EMEA. Our multi-national team of around 20 operates out of Johannesburg, London, Luxembourg, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Zurich, bringing together a wide variety of cultural and professional backgrounds. You'll work alongside some of the industry's most experienced underwriters, who are passionate about sharing their experience. Our team fosters continuous learning and knowledge transfer, helping you build the expertise needed for a long-term underwriting career.

You're curious, analytical, and motivated to learn. You combine a flair for numbers with strong problem-solving skills and enjoy working across cultures. You thrive in a collaborative environment, but you are also driven to own topics independently. We welcome candidates who bring most of the following strengths:
Master's Degree in mathematics, statistics, data analysis, actuarial science, finance, economics, or equivalent working experience
1-3 years of experience in underwriting, pricing, or another analytical (re)insurance role, ideally in Casualty
Strong quantitative skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and one additional language
Collaborative mindset and passion to work in a cross-cultural environment
These are additional nice to haves:
Financial knowledge and familiarity with legal frameworks
Experience with reinsurance pricing tools and modeling
Additional language skills
Experience in client-facing roles or relationship management
Knowledge of international insurance markets

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 100'000 and CHF 150'000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,* the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.*
In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based bonus.
Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
