The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for a Chair of Pathology as of 01.08.2027 or by arrangement. The Professorship is based at the Department of Pathology of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) and represents the subject in research, teaching and patient care. The professor will be appointed as head of the department.

We are looking for a dynamic, integrative personality with extensive scientific and clinical experience in Pathology and a convincing vision for future pathology research. The research focus should meaningfully complement the existing foci at the Faculty of Medicine and the USZ. Teaching includes student teaching, specialist training in pathology and continuing education.

The successful candidate will have a specialist title in Pathology as well as a habilitation or equivalent scientific qualification. As he or she will take over the management of the Department of Pathology and Molecular Pathology, management experience at a university institute (or department) of pathology is required. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in the management of a research group and clinical trials, the acquisition of competitive third-party funding as well as in student teaching, the supervision of academic theses and the promotion of young academics.
The University of Zurich is a highly attractive institution for cutting edge research with plenty of opportunities for collaborations across its faculties and with its university hospitals. The nearby Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is an additional asset. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the existing as well as new collaborations within the hospital and with other research institutions.

German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.

The University of Zurich is an equal opportunities employer and in particular strives to increase the percentage of women in leading positions. Therefore, qualified female researchers are encouraged to apply.
