We are looking for a

Clinical Data Engineer (R Specialist)

, for one of our clients, in Switzerland (remote).

Responsibilities:

PoC Development: Design and execute Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects for clinical data analysis and reporting to validate the feasibility and performance of new methodologies and tools. Transformation Logic Library: Develop a library of modular, reusable data transformation components (e.g., derivations, transpositions, validation checks) to support clinical analytics. Metadata-Driven Orchestration: Integrate with external metadata repositories to dynamically automate and orchestrate end-to-end data transformation workflows and validation processes. In-Memory Data Processing: Implement and optimize high-performance, in-memory data pipelines using R to efficiently handle large-scale clinical datasets. Remote Database Integration: Build robust and secure interfaces for persisting and retrieving data from remote databases using RESTful APIs, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Reporting & Visualization: Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using R Shiny and ggplot2. Collaborate effectively with BI teams on integrating with enterprise tools like Power BI and Spotfire.
Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field. Strong proficiency in R programming and the RStudio development environment. Proven experience with R packages for data manipulation (e.g., dplyr, data.table), analytics, and reporting. Hands-on experience designing and developing metadata-driven architectures; familiarity with MDR platforms is a strong plus. Proven ability to optimize R code for in-memory processing of large datasets (performance tuning, memory management). Practical experience connecting R to remote systems via RESTful APIs (e.g., httr, plumber) and databases (e.g., DBI, odbc). Experience creating interactive applications with R Shiny and static visualizations with ggplot2. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly-regulated healthcare environment.
Nice to have:

Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly-regulated healthcare environment. Familiarity with version control (Git), continuous integration, and other software engineering best practices. Experience with other programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) is a bonus.
