Role/ Department:

Product Controls main service is the daily monitoring of investment restrictions. The setup of funds, the programming of rules and system improvements in the investment compliance tool MIG21 are all managed within the team. In addition, the team oversees service delivery of Northern Trusts Asset Management Operational Services (AMOS) service offering, which includes liquidity monitoring, NAV analytics and investment restriction controls. The team is also in charge of many interesting projects and specialist tasks such as screening and implementation of new laws and guidelines, advisory and approval of new funds and internal investment guidelines, netting & hedging checks, hedged share classes, securities lending and collateral checks, OTC derivatives, impact analysis, the creation of sophisticated reports and the implementation of a new investment compliance system. We collaborate with many stakeholders like Portfolio Managers, Clients, Client Relationship Managers, Manco Oversight Teams, Fund Engineering Teams, Product Managers, Mancos, Depositaries, Auditors and many internal Operations teams. The team is known for delivering high quality results also for complex tasks and in challenging times.

The key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Business lead in project to migrate funds from MIG21 to the new investment compliance application which includes conceptual planning and creation of underlying rules coding framework (Python), project management tasks and close collaboration with international partners
  • Oversight tasks over delegated AMOS services including direct controls, due diligence, KPI measurement and providing subject matter expertise to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Monitoring fund\\\'s investment restrictions (fund prospectus, KAG, KKV, KKV-FINMA, BVV2, UCITS, internal investment guidelines)
  • Responding to client queries and requests, product management, portfolio managers, operation departments, legal, compliance, auditors, etc.
  • Maintaining and optimizing our compliance application, by parameterizing funds, programming rules and implementing new functions
Skills/ Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:
  • Higher education in economics (University or Fachhochschule)
  • Advanced knowledge in Python or similar coding languages
  • Knowledge of investment compliance systems (MIG21, CRD, etc.) considered a plus
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Good knowledge of financial markets, asset management, complex instruments, derivatives and accounting
  • Knowledge of Swiss laws and guidelines for investment restriction checks (KAG, KKV, KKV-FINMA, BVV2, FINMA-Guidelines, SFAMA-Guidelines) is an advantage
  • Committed, pro-active and efficient
  • Fluent in German and English
