Job Description

Imperium Commodity Search is working with an international trading house seeking a traffic operator for their copper team in Switzerland. Responsible for the chartering of vessels transporting copper around the world, you will be working closely with the trading team ensuring smooth end to end supply chain & logistics processes whilst ensuring pricing of foreign exchange and hedging.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist traders in the timely chartering of vessels for both bulk and container load across metals (primarily copper)
• Deal with full cycle letters of credit (L/Cs) opening and checking of LCs, documentation and other supporting paperwork
• Maintain fluid traffic operations on the metal trading desk, ensuring timely logistics of copper and other base metal products
• Basic hedging assistance, calculation of quantities and hedge levels
• Liaise with warehouse, stockists and local offices to ensure availability of stock across metals, copper etc.
• Ensure metals freight is insured whilst in transit and storage
• Work closely with the metal trading team on general traffic, logistics and supply chain support

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years experience working in a traffic/operations role at a physical commodity trading house, ideally in metals
• Previous experience handling LCs (Letters of Credit) from the trading house/supplier perspective
• Degree educated in a relevant field
• Good interpersonal skills
• Efficiency; timely execution of tasks which the trading team rely upon to ensure global passage of metal products
• Good knowledge of Copper logistics/properties would be a benefit
• Fluent in English (other languages a benefit)
