Purpose and Scope
The Deputy Principal for Grades 11-12 provides leadership for the academic and personal growth of students as they transition toward graduation and post-secondary pathways. This role ensures coherence between rigorous program demands (IB, AP) and student wellbeing, guiding both students and teachers through these critical, high-stakes years.
As a member of the 6-12 leadership team, the Deputy Principal contributes to divisional coherence while also tending to the unique pressures, expectations, and opportunities of the final years of school.
Key Functions:
Developmental Leadership:
+ - Model balance and resilience, ensuring that academic rigor is paired with care and belonging.

Alignment and Coherence:
Collaborate with other Deputy Principals to ensure alignment in curriculum, policies, values, and division-wide priorities.
Academic Leadership (IB, AP):
+ - Oversee the effective implementation of IB Diploma, AP, and other advanced programs, ensuring alignment with school expectations and international standards.
- Collaborate closely with IB/AP Coordinators, Deputy Principal for Learning Design, and the Director of Teaching & Learning to monitor student progress and maintain program integrity.
Coordinate exam schedules, mock exams, and related assessment logistics in partnership with program leads.

Professional Growth and Evaluation:
Support and evaluate a defined group of teachers in Grades 11-12, fostering professional reflection, collaboration, and high-quality instruction.

Post-Secondary Readiness:
+ - Work closely with the Futures Pathway Advisors to support post-secondary planning, application timelines, and student transitions.
In close partnership with the Deputy of Student Experience, ensure that academic, wellbeing, and advisory structures reinforce students' preparation for university and life beyond ZIS.

Operational and Community Leadership:
+ Serve as the key point of contact for faculty, parents, and students in Grades 11-12.
+ Support oversight of grade-level events (e.g., Graduation, IB/AP assessments, BTC, senior projects) to ensure smooth, mission-aligned execution.
+ Collaborate with other Deputy Principals to maintain alignment in policies, systems, and communication across the Secondary School.
Proximity to Daily Life:
Stay close to day-to-day operations to ensure quality, consistency, and timely support, while balancing immediate needs with strategic, long-term goals.
A relevant advanced degree (or in progress).
