DFS EMEA Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d)

PURPOSE:

The Bayer Digital Farming Solutions (DFS) organization is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead a newly formed team of prototyping engineers in our New Business Model space. This Staff Software Engineer will be responsible for leading the technical implementation of the software development team to build innovative prototypes for realizing new business concepts.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate daily with an autonomous team of software engineers, product owners, and business leaders to deliver prototype applications that test business value.

Interact directly with business customers to gather and understand requirements; determining how they will translate into application features.

Develop applications and services for projects owned by the team using the latest tools, technologies, and best practices.

Deploy applications in collaboration with the development team and regional business owners.

Own the advancement of prototype engineering applications and handoff to shared capability or commercial capability teams for broader, global utilization.

Troubleshoot and maintain deployed code developed by the team.

Integrate with and utilize existing libraries and frameworks; improving them and building new to meet customer needs.

Evaluate existing commercial offerings, shared capabilities, and functionality that must be built by the team to meet the customer needs.

Identify opportunities to develop new and better solutions to increase value delivery to customers.

Champion ways of working and best practices across the organization to promote a digital mindset.

Help to shape the vision for their team\\\'s products taking into account impacts, dependencies, and opportunities to collaborate with other teams and groups.

Anticipate and address technical and organizational obstacles impacting their team.

Share knowledge with other developers on the team.

Identify and pursue opportunities for self-improvement of technical and non-technical skills in oneself and mentor more junior developers.

Responsible for delivering high quality products that satisfy customer needs and meet compliance and privacy standards.

Provide guidance and support of technical practices within the team including, but not limited to technologies such as AWS, Azure, and DevOps practices.

Understand and embrace agile principles.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bachelor\\\'s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

At least 5 years of experience solving challenging technical problems in single page web application development, non-native mobile development, cloud based continuous delivery and environment management, providing quality user interfaces / clickable prototypes.

At least two years of experience working with or on agile teams; embracing and demonstrating agile principles.

Experience with React JS, TypeScript, Node.js or equivalent programming languages.

Experience with AWS tools as a complement to full-stack development.

Some experience with micro-service design and development.

Ability to support a work culture that encourages team autonomy.

Ability to operate effectively in environments with a large amount of ambiguity.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Effective at promoting innovation at every level of the organization.

Experience with software development lifecycle.

Some experience with micro-service design and development.

Knowledge of current technologies and trends including programming languages and cloud technologies.

Software engineering work experience using a functional or object-oriented language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, TypeScript)

Broad understanding of front-end, back-end, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and DevOps environments and methodologies.

Agriculture domain knowledge.
