POSITION SUMMARY
FLA Innovation regularly participates in various activities that foster supply chain innovation, research, sustainable remediation, and support FLA's overall mission to enhance workplace conditions in global supply chains. The Director, Innovation plays an international role in supporting the Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer in executing innovative pilots, tools, and HRDD models within the supply chain, which will ultimately lead to the creation of standalone programs at FLA. This position will further support stakeholder engagement in Europe (including but not limited to members, partners, civil society organizations, governmental stakeholders, universities, and investors).
This role requires knowledge of supply chains (including raw materials), upcoming regulations on business and human rights, and models for human rights due diligence used in upstream supply chains. The position also requires research and qualitative data analysis skills, awareness of current global trends, project management abilities, coalition-building skills, and the capacity to work with diverse stakeholders.
This is a Level 5 (1B) fully remote position based in Europe (preferably in France).
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Implementation of the SCAN Pilot
FLA's
SCAN (Supply Chain Action Network) Pilot
will focus on supply chain tiers beyond Tier 1 and will closely coordinate with the FLA Social Compliance Team to:Implement the SCAN activities as identified in the SCAN pilot overview document.
Research various due diligence models in upstream supply chains.
Streamline existing FLA tools and guidance materials on FLA's Learning Management Systems in collaboration with FLA Knowledge Management (KM) team.
Organize learning sessions and webinars with FLA members and partners.
Develop good practices and case studies on managing upstream supply chains.
Develop new and disseminate existing tools, mapping studies, and guidance materials in collaboration with the FLA Innovation Manager, the Vice President, Innovation, and KM team.
Organize surveys with FLA members to identify their needs in upstream supply chains.
Provide oversight and support for the development of the FLA Raw Materials Program Framework.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of newly developed tools and technology on upstream supply chains into existing FLA systems.
Administration and Coordination of Innovation Project ActivitiesDraft a detailed work plan and a monthly activity schedule for SCAN and other projects.
Recruit FLA members and partners for participation in SCAN and other projects.
Coordinate activities, meetings, and meeting minutes with various stakeholders, including the FLA Manufacturing Program, FLA Agriculture Program, and the FLA Business Caucus.
Develop Terms of Reference.
Development and Implementation of Other Innovative ProjectsDevelop a coalition to implement FLA's projects in the Italian and French Luxury Goods sector, ensuring human rights due diligence at subcontracted facilities.
Identify, develop, and implement new project concepts and funding proposals, working closely with project donors and cross-functional teams.
Identify and pursue funding opportunities by establishing relationships with international donors, foundations, and grant organizations to support Innovation and SCAN activities.
Manage project workplan, project team, contracts, budgets and financials, and timelines.
Support or lead the drafting of case studies and issue briefs.
Stakeholder Engagement and Member Recruitment in EuropeSupport increasing FLA's visibility among European stakeholders.
Collaborate with FLA Communications to organize side sessions at major events, focusing on upstream supply chain due diligence (e.g., OECD forum in Paris, UN Forum in Geneva, other conferences).
Develop working relations with investors, regulatory bodies, industry associations, civil society organizations, and others who are relevant to FLA's mission and work.
Recruit Europe-based companies and universities for FLA membership.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
At least 10 years of experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects in raw materials supply chains, with a background in project monitoring and evaluation.
Strong computer literacy, including MS Office Suite; experience with MacOS preferred.
Strong writing skills, including authoring reports.
Ability to analyze large amounts of information and data comfortably and accurately.
Strong commitment to the FLA mission of protecting workers' rights.
High-level oral and written communication skills; proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
Strong organizational, program management, and time management skills; keen attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with regular meetings (including in-person) with the supervisor in Geneva, Switzerland and other globally dispersed staff.
Available to travel at up to 20%.
