Your responsibilities:




In this role, you will support the replacement and commissioning of power converters for the ISOLDE project. Working under the guidance of an experienced technician, you will contribute to the safe removal, installation, testing, and documentation of new equipment.


Key Tasks:

Collaborate with electromechanics during the removal of existing converters. Coordinate and follow up on transport requests for the evacuation of old equipment. Support building consolidation activities and address needs from various stakeholders. Organise and supervise the transport and installation of new converters. Perform commissioning tests, including verifying electrical connections and interlocks, tuning current regulation loops on operational loads and testing spare converters. Provide training to first-line support teams and hand over equipment to operations teams once validated. Produce and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.

Your profile:




Experience:

Practical experience working with electrical or electronic systems, ideally including power converters or industrial equipment. Exposure to technical operations such as installation, testing, or commissioning of equipment. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams. Demonstrated ability to produce, manage, and update technical documentation. Proven organisational and problem-solving abilities.

Skills:

Electrical and electronics fundamentals. Power converter systems. Equipment installation and commissioning. Technical documentation. Teamwork and communication. Organisation and attention to detail. Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.

maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation

in Electrical / Electronics (or a related field)

and

your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma

. You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

This position involves:

A valid driving licence. Operations on electrical installations or in their vicinity (over 1000 Volt AC or 1500 Volt DC) requiring a specific authorization. Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.
Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
