Roles and responsibilities

This senior position provides near and long-term strategic direction in alignment with the Vaccines Business Unit and coordinates activities across the EUCAN region supporting LOC to maximize patient outcomes for travelers in Europe and Canada.

It is also a focus area to provide oversight of the scientific platform in support of the product strategies for the organization\\\'s Vaccine products.

Key focus is to shape the scientific understanding and narrative for TAK 003 across the EUCAN region in traveler\\xe2\\x80\\x99s market.

Provides vaccines medical leadership to EUCAN, LOCs and MCO enhancing cross functional organizational excellence with Evidence Generation and Publications, Public Affairs, Market Access and other relevant cross-functional teams.

Leads regional initiatives to support licensure and introduction of Vaccine products, including efforts to support recommendations in supranational and national vaccination schedules and by other supranational influential bodies.

Serves as key liaison with national and regional non-governmental and governmental organizations on scientific, regulatory and vaccine policy issues for the Vaccines portfolio.

Interacts internally with Regional Leaders. Advises and negotiates, as required, to guide the overall activities of the Vaccines portfolio.

Develops and maintains relationships externally through Advisory Boards, Professional Associations, Professional Meetings and Conferences, etc. to achieve scientific objectives.

Provides medical direction and review for pre- and post-launch regulatory and public health policies strategies.

Contributes to building, training and supporting LOC Medical Affairs staff to introduce global vaccines into respective national programs.

In conjunction with VBU medical affairs , ensure that Regional and LOC medical needs are considered when elaborating global Medical Affairs strategies (including the need for regional and local epidemiological data and cost-benefit analysis, etc).

Key Medical EUCAN referent for Vaccines Business Unit strategies, prioritization and business development opportunities. Actively contribute to VBU related initiatives to develop and to optimize clinical development, scientific engagements, evidence generation, medical education, public affairs, market access, and commercial strategies and plans for regional specificities.

Ensures that medical activities in the Region and LOCs are compliant with all applicable local and regional regulations and obligations, as well as in line with Takeda\\xe2\\x80\\x99s own Ethical Guidelines and Business Practices. Always uphold the company reputation.

Major activities

Accountable for excellence in EUCAN Brand Strategy and Medical Plan development and execution.

Guide, review, and approve local brand and medical plans, and medical launch activation milestones.

Formulate and drive strategic KOL/Medical Societies/Stakeholder engagement plans to support the evolution of vaccinations and dengue prevention at the center of the public health agenda.

Co-create with Global Vaccines Business Unit key evidence generation studies, phase III local registration clinical trials strategy, RWE and publications to advance knowledge and inform global, regional and local vaccine recommendations.

Review and approve EUCAN research proposals (Investigator Initiated Studies-IIR, Collaborative Research-CR, etc.) to ensure global, regional alignment and execution of this research within Takeda standards of compliance.

Accountable for the scientific integrity, GCP adherence, (global) strategic alignment and safety design of clinical studies undertaken by the regional or LOC medical affairs teams. Approver for integrity and correctness of the analysis, interpretation, scientific and marketing validity of the publications produced.

Build and maintain a strong scientific stakeholders\\xe2\\x80\\x99 network.

Final approver for key medical/scientific and promotional materials as per Takeda policies.

Provide scientific training of senior medical and other internal stakeholders.

Build and drive major regional strategic medical communications and education plans.

Partner and guide LOCs and MCOs Medical leads and heads, and Local medical teams to build vaccine medical capabilities and to ensure strategic relevance, timeline, and delivery of medical activities.

Senior speaker in relevant scientific congresses/events, roundtables, and workshops.

Ensure that all scientific-medical communications are fair-balanced, based on appropriate scientific evidence, and compliant with local regulatory norms and internal compliance policies.

Lead proactive risk management and corrective actions for regional medical activities.

Budgets owner for all regional medical activities.

Qualification and Experience

MD (preferred). PhD qualifications may be considered in the case of applicants who are established leaders in Vaccines.

Minimum of 15 years of medical affairs and/or clinical development experience in the pharmaceutical industry at regional and global level.

Strong vaccines expertise is an absolute requirement. Proven track records of vaccines launch across different infectious diseases areas, across the life-course, and in different geographies in both private and public programs.

In depth knowledge of industry, vaccines business and products, countries in scope and key stakeholders\\xe2\\x80\\x99 particularities.

Recognized internally and externally as a vaccine expert. Superior scientific, clinical, and managed markets credibility, with strong track records of publications and speaking activities in the field.

In depth knowledge of the international public health healthcare environment, able to identify and contribute to healthcare trends and in maximizing related medical opportunities.

Skills and Competencies
