About the Role
FIH seeks an Event Officials Coordinator to project manage the appointment and deployment of FIH Event Officials, and to advance excellence, performance and education in umpiring, officiating and other event-based roles globally. This role demands an efficient project manager with keen attention to detail and a clear understanding of the roles of umpires, officials and event managers in hockey.
Experience as an international event official (such as International Umpire, Umpire Manager, Official, Event Manager) and/or experience in a similar education, development and deployment role is required.
The Event Officials Manager will report to the Chief Sports Officer and work in close collaboration with the Chairs of the relevant FIH Committees and Panels.
Key Responsibilities
Champion Umpires, Umpires Managers, Officials & other Event Officials to enhance the quality and consistency of officiating in FIH events.
Manage projects and functional areas relating to officials' appointments for all FIH Events, as well as FIH sanctioned events including multi-sport events (e.g. Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games) and other events as requested or applicable.
Support Event Officials before, during and after FIH events, including their respective educational frameworks in collaboration with FIH Academy.
Provide tailored personal and professional development support for Event Officials, including the identification of high potential individuals and supporting progress through the Continental Federation and FIH appointment pathways.
Facilitate training, coaching and development pathways and use of accreditation systems via the FIH Academy.
Develop and enhance resources for Event Officials including resources in technology, game analysis and video applications.
Build strong links with Event Officials, National Associations, Continental Federations and other key stakeholders.
Review and develop protocols, regulations and organisational policies and documents.
Facilitate recruitment strategies, personal development plans and mentoring programmes.
Manage and coordinate the business of FIH Committees as appointed.
About You
You are an organised and proactive sports professional with a deep understanding of officiating and event operations. You bring strong communication and project management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for supporting officials and promoting excellence in international hockey.
Key Qualifications and Experience
Experience as an international event official (such as International Umpire, Umpire Manager, Official, Event Manager) and/or experience in a similar education, development and deployment role.
Detailed knowledge of the Rules of Hockey and FIH Tournament Regulations.
Good IT skills. Experience with TMS and CoachLogic or other game analysis software would be an asset.
Good communicator with high level proficiency in English and superior interpersonal skills. Other languages an asset.
Creative thinker who understands and respects cultural differences.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally and work flexible hours to adapt to various time zones.
Bachelor's degree level qualification.
Education or human resources background would be an asset.
