The Department of Computer Science (D-INFK) at ETH Zurich is a world leader in research and teaching and has developed into a comprehensive and dynamic field of research with an interdisciplinary character.

\\n

One of 16 departments at ETH Zurich, with 45 professors and around 600 staff, the D-INFK consists of eight institutes and one independent professorship covering various areas of research (Data Management and Machine Learning, Information and System Security, Computer Systems, Intelligent Interactive Systems & Physical Computing, Programming Languages and Software Engineering, Theory and Algorithms, Visual Computing).

We are looking for a Financial Controller (80%) to join our team immediately or by arrangement.

\\n

The appointee will join the Departmental Administration Office, reporting to the Departmental Coordinator/Controller; they will also work closely with the Head of Department. They will be responsible for all day-to-day aspects of finance at the departmental level. They will develop a network of relationships within the department and across ETH Zurich to facilitate financial management for the department.

\\n

\\n

Specific aspects of the job include:

\\n

• \\n
• Supporting the Departmental Controller in: \\n
  • \\n
  • Developing the annual budget in coordination with the ETH budget team and the office for Faculty Affairs\\n
  • Allocation and control of funds\\n
  • End-of-year financial reporting\\n
  • Preparing financial forecasts\\n
  • Developing financial strategy\\n
  • Preparing financial topics for presentation at meetings\\n
  • Coordinating the annual salary management process\\n
  \\n
• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable\\n
• Monitoring expenditure and providing regular reports to the Departmental Controller, Head of Department and Department Executive\\n
• Support for and partial representation of the Departmental Coordinator in strategic and operational topics in ETH working groups and committees\\n
• As time allows, providing a financial consulting service to individual research institutes and groups\\n

Specific skills:

\\n

Strong analytical and numerical abilities (commercial apprenticeship with several years of professional experience in a similar function; further training in the commercial field is an advantage):

• Excellent accounting knowledge\\n
• Proficient in MS Excel and other financial software\\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills\\n
• Strong command of English and German\\n
