The mission of the Clinical Supply Chain Management organization is to ensure the right product reaches the right place at the right time--every time--so that no patient goes without treatment and no clinical trial is delayed. This global role ensures seamless supply of all assigned clinical studies across defined markets, customers, and patients worldwide.

The Opportunity


As the Global Head of Global Clinical Supply Chain Management, you will lead and ensure a seamless supply of all assigned clinical studies to defined markets, customers, and patients worldwide. You will lead a global team of 300+ FTEs across Switzerland, USA and Canada, overseeing demand, supply and budget planning, supply chain design, packaging and label development as well as execution of packaging, and local storage.


You will play a pivotal role in creating, shaping and executing the end-to-end clinical supply strategy. Your Key Responsibilities


As the Global Head of Global Clinical Supply Chain Management, you will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of clinical trial supplies. This includes demand and supply planning for all drug products, budget forecasting, supply chain design per trial, patient kit and label development, as well as operational execution of packaging and global distribution.


You are responsible for and foster a seamless collaboration with clinical operations and the broader drug product supply organization, aligning strategies and operations to enable trial success and deliver critical medicines to patients.

You optimize financial stewardship by managing functional budgets, project variable costs, inventory holding, and waste, while setting and achieving ambitious departmental targets. You ensure CMC productivity and uncompromising compliance with GMP, regulatory, and trade requirements, safeguarding operational excellence and business continuity.

Global Planning & Global Production Readiness

You will establish and lead global supply strategies for all clinical programs. You lead and drive forecasting and planning to deliver manageable API, DP, and packaging plans. You oversee PTD(S) Network Planning and run a PTD S&OP process. You will deliver simulations to increase efficiency, speed, and cost savings and you provide budget forecasts and sourcing for commercial and comparator drugs. You ensure packaging order readiness and manage external packaging operations, sourcing activities, and labeling processes.

Global Operations & Distribution

You lead the design of packaging solutions across all trial phases. You will oversee in-house packaging, labeling and warehousing operations and will establish compliance, quality, and continuous improvement processes. You manage manufacturing assets and capital spending strategies and you lead the global clinical supplies distribution network and logistics service providers. You ensure import/export compliance and will own the global distribution strategy, establishing and driving environmental sustainability initiatives.

More specifically, you have

Extensive working experience, and deep expertise in leading Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, or Regulatory functions, preferably in the Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical industry Masters degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business (Operations Management or Supply Chain Management), MBA or advanced degree preferred Exceptional knowledge in a wide array of industry supply chain practices and with outsourcing Track record in LEAN, operational excellence and business process management as well as delivering exceptional business results and delivering impact APICS CPIM, CIRM certifications is a plus Knowledge of SAP and Digital Tools Fluency in written and verbal English and conversational German language is desirable
