Head Of Donor Storytelling

Genève, GE, CH, Switzerland

Job Description

The Head of Donor Storytelling is responsible for sourcing, shaping, and writing compelling donor-facing stories of impact, grounded in local political and cultural context. This role holds the pen on major funding proposals and donor narratives, working closely with Content, Fundraising, and country teams.

We are looking for someone with a curious mind, an eye for editorial quality, and a passion for nuanced, human-centric storytelling. You will translate complex programmatic and political realities into clear, persuasive narratives that inspire donors and partners to support our mission.

This is a content-focused, narrative-driven role, not an administrative or coordination position.

Key Responsibilities

Donor-Facing Narrative Development

Own and produce high-quality donor narratives, including proposals, concept notes, pitch decks, and core introductory materials.

Update and maintain the core donor narrative and introductory deck, ensuring consistency and alignment with organizational priorities.

Source, shape, and write compelling stories of impact from local contexts, integrating political and cultural nuances.

Collaborate closely with country teams to capture local perspectives and weave them into coherent, persuasive narratives for international donors.

Content Production for Donors

Produce donor-facing content, including briefings, narrative updates, and materials for webinars, events, and other cultivation opportunities.

Ensure editorial quality, narrative coherence, and political literacy across all written outputs.

Translate complex programmatic, political, and cultural information into stories that resonate with philanthropic audiences.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Content and Fundraising teams to ensure narratives are strategically aligned and compelling.

Act as a key contributor to funding strategy discussions, advising on narrative framing and messaging.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in political journalism, editorial communications, or narrative-driven storytelling; nonprofit experience is a plus.

Exceptional English writing and editorial skills; ability to craft nuanced, persuasive narratives for donor audiences.

High political literacy, curiosity about context, power, and institutions, and ability to synthesize complex realities into clear stories.

Experience developing donor-facing narratives, proposals, concept notes, and pitch decks.

Comfortable working remotely across time zones with diverse teams.

Desired Attributes

Strong curiosity, storytelling instincts, and ability to uncover compelling stories beyond the obvious.

Ability to work independently, set priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.

Collaborative mindset, capable of integrating inputs from multiple teams while maintaining narrative coherence.
