Main Responsibilities




Leadership and management:
Create and implement holistic Education Portfolio strategy in education programs and products Act as a member of the AO EI Leadership team and fulfil its role and coordinating functions Lead the creation of a portfolio of programs and products based on clinical, market, and business trends in line with the overall EI and AO strategy Be the last escalation point for program/product management related issues Act as manager of at least one of the Specialty Education Commissions Be the single point of contact from the AO EI towards the Commission Continuously engage with the respective Commission to understand changing needs (elections, terms of reference, meetings, and retreats) Translate and share expectations and changes with the AO EI leadership team and the wider organization Be up to date with the latest needs of surgeons and how this influences the EI developments




Team management and people development:
Lead and manage a team of Product Owners responsible for developing and coordinating the Education Portfolio Set goals and objectives for the team and develop strategies to achieve them Ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to improve performance and professional development Oversee line management, talent management, and development topics




Budget and resource management:
Conduct Education Portfolio budget planning, forecasting, monitoring, reporting and financial closing within existing AO financial tools and guidelines Hold budget responsibility for the respective area




Core business responsibilities for the respective portfolio cluster:
Analyze the Education Portfolio composition to determine continuation or discontinuation of education programs and products Oversee lifecycle management of existing education programs and products Initiate and steer new education programs and products as well as pilots Business plan creation and development with relevant key representatives

Main Requirements




Educational requirements:
Master degree; MBA prefered




Job experience:
6-10 years of relevant experience in medical education and in managing project outcomes 5+ years of experience in a similar role or related field Leadership experience and experience in managing budgets and holding financial responsibility




General skills:
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading a team of professionals Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and attitude Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously Highly skilled in project management and outcome focused Familiarity with market research and analysis, and the ability to use data to make informed decisions Strong ability to interface and manage internal/external stakeholder's network Passionate about continuous improvement, entrepreneurial and creative mindset to further develop the Education Portfolio for the Education Institute




Role-specific skills:
Strong market orientation. Can understand the market landscape and identify opportunities to successfully grow and implement new educational offerings Demonstrated experience in product development and lifecycle management of continuing medical education programs Experience in identifying and analyzing market opportunities and design effective strategies to meet educational needs Understanding of educational trends and best practices Experience in product strategy and brand management incl. developing and executing marketing plans to promote educational programs and products Experience in introducing and using state-of-the-art innovation methods and tools Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure the success of educational initiatives Knowledge of CME accreditation and regulatory bodies Strong results and implementation focus Basic knowledge of curriculum development and instructional design




Language skills:
Excellent English language knowledge (written and oral skills) Good German language skills a plus
