Mission



The School of Life Sciences at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for the position of Head of the Biomolecular Screening Facility (BSF). The BSF is one of 11 research core facilities operated by the School of Life Sciences and supported by the school's core funding. The BSF team provides comprehensive services in the field of pre-clinical drug discovery to both academic and non-academic partners. Main duties and responsibilities



Manage the routine operations of the BSF and define its scientific and technological development strategies.

Oversee budgeting and human resources tasks associated with the BSF activity.

Advise, in collaboration with the platform's team, the BSF users on project design, technical aspects including troubleshooting strategies, data interpretation and service cost.

Scout and evaluate emerging technologies in the field of pre-clinical drug discovery and screening technologies, and oversee their implementation at BSF in alignment with user needs.

Manage the platform's internal research and development projects.

Participate in BSF's teaching and training activities.

Foster collaboration between BSF and other core facilities and research infrastructures.

Represent and promote BSF at local, national and international levels.

Profile



PhD in a field relevant to pre-clinical drug discovery.

Extensive managerial experience overseeing a drug screening platform in an academic or industry setting, with a proven ability to lead a diverse team of scientists, technicians, and bioinformaticians.

Strong background in compound management and control, assay development (biochemical target-based assays, phenotypic screens in 2D and 3D), image and data analysis, hit identification and optimization through selected drug screening campaigns.

Demonstrated ability to translate biological questions into effective screening assays. Industry experience in compound screening is considered an asset.

Keen interest in implementing innovative research and development projects utilizing state-of-the-art BSF know-how and instrumentation.

Ability to efficiently communicate with users of the facility and management of the School.

Proficient in English; French language skills are considered an asset.
