HPE Site: resident position at a customer site in Lugano (Switzerland)
HPE offers you an amazing opportunity to work with, what is one of the world's most powerful AI-capable supercomputer, created by The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), and .
You will be immersed into the latest cutting-edge High Performance Computing technologies and will gain skills working with HPC subject matter experts as part of a team maintaining the latest industry leading software and hardware solutions.
We are looking for self-motivated, technically competent individuals with computer maintenance skills and experience to join the High Performance Computing team supporting operational services based in Lugano, Switzerland.
Experience and skills in Computer Hardware and Linux operating systems are mandatory requirements. Knowledge and experience in areas such as, storage solutions, cluster management, job schedulers and high speed networking, Lustre, and Kubernetes would be highly desirable.
As a resident HPC Technical Consultant, you will be working onsite as part of a dedicated HPC team to deliver preventive and reactive support to ensure compliance with strict SLA's (Service Level Agreement) associated with the customer contract.
All necessary product trainings will be provided along with mentoring from colleagues aligned to the site and wider HPC team to enable the successful candidate to provide the level of support required.
This position is in Lugano, a town in southern in the Italian-speaking bordering Italy.
In a typical day as HPC Technical Support Consultant you:

• Apply your technical background and knowledge of industry trends to deliver HPC services, including both hardware and software, for HPC supercomputer systems, clusters and storage systems
• Analyze, qualify, troubleshoot, resolve whenever possible, incidents with the right level of autonomy & expertise
• Collaborate with team members, other internal organizations, customers, and third parties (e.g. NVIDIA, AMD, ...)
• Represent HPE in front of the customer, including verbal & written communication and be available to travel European customers sites from time to time
• Research HPC documentation & complete required trainings to maintain and develop HPC skills

If you have these Skills, Expertise, Attitude and Education...

• Educated in a technical First Level University degree or years of system administration experience.
• Highly Interested in the technical knowledge of the overall architecture for HPC products and solutions
• Showing analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experienced with Client relationship management skills
• Fluent in English and preferably Italian
• Experienced in these Technical skills:

• Computer Hardware
• Linux/Unix operating systems
• Knowledge of programming and scripting (e.g. Perl, Python, C++, etc.)
• Bringing a general understanding of:

• networking and security
• storage systems
• orchestration and automation

We would offer you trainings and learning opportunities in the following areas:

• HPE HPC supercomputers
• Highspeed networks
• (HPC) file systems
• Containerization and container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes and Docker Swarm
• Workload managers (preferably SLURM and/ or PBS-pro)
• Cluster management systems
• Server components including motherboards, memory and storage, network switches
