This position is located within the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR Field Operations and Technical Cooperation Division (FOTCD), Africa Branch in Geneva. The incumbent will report to the Coordinator of the team of the High Commissioner\\\'s designated Expert on Sudan and to the Chief of Africa 1 Section, under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Africa Branch.

Within delegated authority, the Human Rights Officer (Analyst/Reporting) will be responsible for the following duties:

- Reviews and analyses information collected and advises Secretariat staff on addressing gaps and following leads;
- In coordination with the Coordinator of the Team of the designated Expert, identifies gaps and orients information gathering, accordingly; coordinates closely with the Legal Officer to ensure information collected corresponds to the required legal elements;
- Coordinates closely with the Gender Adviser to ensure gender perspectives are integrated throughout information gathering, and during analysis and report drafting, including on the gendered impact of the violations;
- Prepares briefings, summaries of information gathered, and analytical documents as required;
- Coordinates the drafting of the High Commissioner\\\'s reports and oral briefings to the Human Rights Council on the situation of human Rights in Sudan with inputs of the designated Expert, and acts as its main drafter;
- Ensures that information collected is properly documented, in accordance with standard OHCHR methodology in coordination with the Coordinator of the designated Expert;
- Assists in drawing analytical conclusions; proposes the structure of reports and visualization of the designated Expert \\\'s findings and conclusions; assists in developing
actionable and gender-sensitive recommendations.
- Performs other duties as required.

PROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge of human rights-related matters, international human rights law, international criminal law, and international humanitarian law; proven ability to analyse and report on complex human rights investigations; understanding of gender dimension in the human rights field work including sexual-based violence; capacity to analyse and synthesize information. Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems. Ability to conduct data collection using various methods. Conceptual analytical and evaluative skills to conduct independent research and analysis, including familiarity with and experience in the use of various research sources, including electronic sources on the Internet, intranet, and other databases. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Shows pride in work and in achievements. Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter. Is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines, and achieving results.
