OVERVIEW

UNITAR Division for Prosperity, one of UNITAR's programmatic divisions, offers world-class learning and knowledge-sharing services to shape an inclusive, sustainable and prosperous world. We support change-makers from around the world, especially women and young people, to address growing inequalities. The Division for Prosperity encompasses the Technology, Finance and Trade Programme (TFTP) and the Hiroshima Office (HO).
In response to the continued growth of digital and blended learning, the Hiroshima Office is currently transitioning its online learning content to Moodle and rebuilding selected courses using content authoring tools such as Articulate 360. This transition aims to enhance learner engagement, accessibility, and instructional quality while ensuring alignment with adult learning principles and UNITAR's quality standards.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE CONTRACT
The Hiroshima Office seeks a qualified Instructional Designer with proven experience in Articulate 360 and Moodle to support the redesign, development, and quality assurance of interactive online learning content for adult learners and professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Programme Officer, the Instructional Designer will undertake the following tasks:
Collaborate with the UNITAR team and subject matter experts to review existing learning materials and translate them into structured, learner-centred online modules.
Design, develop, and update interactive e-learning content using Articulate 360 (including Storyline and Rise, as appropriate), ensuring alignment with instructional objectives and adult learning principles.
Configure, integrate, and test Articulate-based learning content into the Moodle learning management system, ensuring proper functionality, navigation, and tracking.
Apply instructional design best practices, including the use of interactions, assessments, feedback mechanisms, and accessibility considerations.
Conduct quality assurance reviews of e-learning modules to ensure accuracy, consistency, usability, and compliance with UNITAR standards.
Revise learning content based on feedback from the UNITAR team and address technical or instructional issues identified during testing and review.
Develop and provide technical and user guidance, including written guidance documents and live sessions (such as internal training or briefings), to support the effective use and maintenance of developed learning materials within Moodle.
Develop and deliver training sessions for the UNITAR team and relevant stakeholders on the effective use of Articulate 360 and Moodle tools and features, as required.
Stay informed of emerging trends and best practices in online learning technologies and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Programme Officer.
MEASURABLE OUTPUTS/DELIVERABLES/SCHEDULE OF DELIVERABLES
Redesigned and developed e-learning modules in Articulate 360, aligned with agreed learning objectives and adult learning principles.
Successful integration of finalized learning content into the Moodle platform, with verified functionality and learner tracking.
Completion of quality assurance checks and incorporation of feedback within agreed timelines.
Development and delivery of technical and user guidance materials, including guidance documents and live briefing or training sessions to support the effective use and maintenance of developed learning materials within Moodle.
Timely submission of deliverables in accordance with the agreed workplan and contract duration.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS FOR EVALUATION OF RESULTS
All deliverables are completed on schedule and meet UNITAR's quality, pedagogical, and technical standards.
Learning materials demonstrate clarity, instructional coherence, and effective learner engagement.
Consistent demonstration of clear, professional, and timely communication and coordination with the UNITAR team.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The incumbent will report to the Programme Officer, Hiroshima Office, Division for Prosperity.
