Job description
We seek an enthusiastic PhD student for an industrial doctorate program in drug discovery to join the Mass Spectrometry team at Philochem. The team focuses on the development and application of Mass Spectrometry-based techniques for the company's drug discovery and development programs.
The candidate will learn and apply state-of-the-art mass spectrometry methods such as small molecule quantification in biological matrices, biodistribution evaluation, target identification, binding confirmation, proteomics, and mechanism of action confirmation. The candidate will also have the possibility to perform organic synthesis, cell biology activities, and biophysical analytical procedures to complete dedicated projects.
This program will be conducted in Zurich laboratories in collaboration with a European University.
The student will be trained to:
Use and maintain state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instrumentation (i.e., Orbitrap)
Design, plan, and execute scientific projects related to the R&D programs of Philochem
Give scientific presentations
Write scientific articles and publish them in peer-reviewed scientific journals
Minimum requirements
:
Master's degree (MSc) in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related disciplines.
Hands-on experience in the use and maintenance of HPLC and mass spectrometry instruments.
Hands-on experience with sample preparation procedures for mass spectrometry-based analysis.
Good knowledge of the drug discovery and development process for both small molecules and biopharmaceuticals
Good knowledge of data analysis and editing software (i.e., R/Python, Excel, Prism, Illustrator).
Experience in performing literature search to support laboratory operations and research activities.
Good communication skills, scientific curiosity, and a proactive mindset
Fluency in oral and written English.
