We are looking for an intern to join our engineers in the Product Testing and Simulation team for a period of 6 months. The ideal candidate will have a certain level of familiarity with the application of simulations in structural/static analysis, as well as with the use of mechanical testing equipment. We are looking for someone who is confident in doing delicate and precise manual operations with small components. The internship offers the opportunity to get real-life experience with product testing and development within the medical device/dental field.

Internship Purpose

Assist the engineering team by supporting the mechanical performance evaluation of Straumann Products, through computer modeling and simulation, as well as physical testing, including the preparation of applicable/related documentation.

Your responsibilities:

Support the preparation and execution of computer simulation evaluations and physical mechanical tests of Straumann products Perform data evaluation and statistical analysis when necessary Support with accurate data recording and maintenance/preparation of applicable documentation (test reports, photo documentation, etc), as well as administrative tasks related to processing of testing orders (task planning, monitoring of equipment, etc).

Your Profile - Qualifications

Education

Graduate or postgraduate technical/scientific degree program, such as mechanical engineering, life sciences or equivalent.

Professional Experience

Familiarity with basic application of computational modeling and simulation (structural/static analysis) and/or CAD modeling Familiarity with basic use of mechanical testing equipment Ability to work with technical documentation and to follow detailed procedures Good manual skills, capable of very precise and delicate manual operations Good organization skills A desire to learn and take initiative with problem solving Proficiency in English (spoken and written) Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, etc) Knowledge of German is an advantage.
