Job Description

\\nThe Position

At Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED), we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility, and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed. To sustain and build on our success in an increasingly challenging environment (market environment, digital health, real-world data, demographics, cost pressures, compliance) more innovation is required than ever before and Roche has set itself very aspirational ten-year ambitions until 2030. To ensure our success in the future, we have embarked on a journey of transformation.

Strategy, Portfolio & Operations (SPO) is a newly built function that aims to encompass a number of business partner functions for pRED including strategy, portfolio, program and project management office, clinical operations, sites and laboratory management, capability development, and external operations. SPO is set up leveraging a hub and spoke design with a clear mandate for core capabilities that are mirrored by the respective spokes in disease therapeutic areas and functions across pRED. SPO\\xe2\\x80\\x99s mission is to deliver excellence in operations, ensure patient centricity, and enable high-quality decision-making. As a trusted partner across pRED, SPO contributes to pRED\\xe2\\x80\\x99s research and development excellence.

Why we need you:

As part of the pRED journey at the pRED site Basel, a new research facility called pRED Center is currently under construction. The move of the pRED units in Basel to their new home starts in early 2024. The preparation of this move brings a peak load for the operational units of pRED in Basel. In parallel, new digital solutions are under development that aim to support the researchers in their new lab environment to work in the most efficient way possible. To support two of the digital projects, we are looking to recruit an intern to support the testing, preparation, and data curation activities.

Some of your tasks are the testing of new or updated digital solutions with a fresh mindset and view, while applying a structured and self-organized way of working. Once the solutions are in a high-quality state, you are also supporting the end-user communities with the adoption of the solution and the preparation to apply the new functionalities in the productive environment. Your role requires close collaboration with the project teams and project leaders.

Two projects/applications will be the main focus of the internship:

D-WoW - Digital Ways of Working at pRED Center

SED - Scientific Equipment Database

Your challenges in the internship:

Support testing activities to ensure the quality of the development process

Document findings/issues and coordinate the resolution with the project teams

Support the SED team in identifying the lab equipment to be moved

Support the SED champions in marking the lab equipment with BLE beacons for asset tracking in the new pRED Center locations

Support the SED champions in checking the metadata of the lab equipment in the database and clean-up the data sets

Bring a fresh mindset, spirit, and view into the projects

You are enrolled at university (ideally in IT or automatization)

Please provide a certificate of enrollment, as well as a certificate of your university stating that an internship of 12 months is mandatory
