The Department of Psychology at the University of Zurich invites applications for a tenured Lecturer Research position for Psychological Data Management and -Stewardship. We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to lead and develop our IT, Data Management and Data Stewardship service unit to ensure state-of-the-art, responsible and effective data management, curation and sharing, in alignment with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles and along the research data lifecycle. This is an independent, non-professorial position not attached to a specific chair reporting to the department head.


Your responsibilities

The lecturer will lead the IT, Data Management and Data Stewardship areas of the central support unit of the Department of Psychology to bundle and tailor research support services for information security, data awareness, data management, technology-based data acquisition and real-world data integration. The position comprises strategical and financial planning, human resource management as well as reporting and controlling responsibilities. Landscape monitoring, knowledge management, stakeholder orientation and network building will be important elements as the position aims to strengthen collaboration, interdisciplinary exchange and institutional capacity around FAIR research data. The lecturer is also expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary Data Stewards Network at UZH to facilitate scientific collaboration and harness synergies across research domains.The teaching load amounts to 2 - 3 hours per week and should target all levels (BA, MA, PHD). In addition, the lecturer will be responsible for organizing information events and creating information material for students and researchers. The lecturer will also supervise BA and MA thesis projects. Besides research support and teaching, we expect the engagement in research, publications, and grant writing in related areas such as data stewardship, open science or digital infrastructure for research.

Your profile

Applicants hold a PhD degree in psychology or in data science or related fields with a clear psychological focus and have a strong record of academic achievements (research, publications, grants) together with a track record or training in the different aspects (technical, legal, ethical) of FAIR data management, data stewardship, data lifecycle management, and open research practices. We are looking specifically for individuals with demonstrated experience in conducting and publishing from own research projects within the profile of the lectureship, leadership experience and project management skills. Suitable applicants are competent in the conceptual development and in translating business and research processes in data struc-tures and workflows. They have excellent communication and collaboration skills to integrate and mediate between the different stakeholders' perspectives. Suitable applicants are proficient in didactics and have several years of experience in designing and implementing university teaching and supervising BA and MA thesis projects. Proficient knowledge of German (within one year) and English is needed. Experience in working with multiple data types, especially with highdensity data with high potential for reuse (e.g., neuropsychological or wearables data), and with data analysis and management tools is preferred. Knowledge and experience with governance in higher education and science are a further asset.
