Linux System Administrator
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator for a research-focused organization.
Your Responsibilities:
Installation, configuration, and management of existing and new server systems and applications (Linux)
Management and further development of the network and firewall infrastructure (Fortinet)
Monitoring and enhancement of software and hardware environments (Icinga2, Ansible)
Collaboration with various internal departments and research units as well as external service providers
Project management for the ongoing development of the entire data center operations
Support the training of apprentices in the field of computer science
What You Bring:
Education in Computer Science or similar
Professional experience as a Linux administrator
Excellent understanding of networks and network security
Solid knowledge of Linux server administration (Ubuntu, CentOS/Redhat)
Experience with scripting, with a focus on Python and Bash
Good knowledge of modern automation tools, preferably Ansible
Experience in the administration and deployment of container infrastructures (Docker) is an advantage
Experience with cloud infrastructure and storage systems (CEPH) is an advantage
Fluent in German (spoken and written) and good English skills
