Purpose

This position offers a highly motivated and skilled individual the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment, with direct contribution to Roche\\xe2\\x80\\x99s external growth strategy. Mergers & Acquisitions is part of Group Business Development, reporting to the CFO, and plays a critical part in bringing external innovation into the company. Roche is a leading deal-maker in the industry with a professional in-house team that offers further development opportunities within the team and beyond and direct exposure to senior management across the Roche group.

In this role you will lead acquisitions and divestitures across the whole company (including Pharma and Diagnostics) together with Legal and Partnering colleagues. You will report to the Head of Group Business Development and lead the full execution of M&A transactions, including: project management and overall coordination, multi-criteria valuation analysis, financial analysis, deal structuring including offer & terms, deal strategy and negotiations, presenting to senior management and interacting with bankers and other advisers. In doing so, you will have extensive cross functional collaboration with the Pharma and Dia Partnering teams, Legal M&A and other corporate functions (tax, accounting, People & Culture, IT, treasury, investor relations, etc\\xe2\\x80\\xa6).

Key Responsibilities and Skills
  • End-to-end responsibility for M&A transactions, contributing strong knowledge of project management, valuation, finance and negotiation skills as relevant for M&A
  • Leadership skills and experience of cross functional collaboration, combined with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders effectively
  • Strong stakeholder management with strategic and planning skills
  • Ability to train and mentor high performing colleagues who are earlier in their M&A careers
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - capacity to operate successfully at all levels of the organization
  • High rigor and top analytical and quantitative skills
  • Good organization of own work and time and the ability to work well under pressure, with continuous attention to detail
  • Business mindset and interest in Healthcare sector - science degree is a plus
  • Dynamic, pro-active and fast thinker. You are also an initiative taker, with strong personal motivation, drive and high integrity and reliability
Qualifications and Experience

You will have a recognized university degree (finance/economics related or a science degree). In addition, over ten years of relevant work experience in either Investment Banking/M&A, Transaction Services or other financial advisory related work, ideally with exposure to the life science industry and US M&A environment. A desire for hands-on involvement and the ability to cope with challenges and time pressure are important for this position. You are a team player and don\\xe2\\x80\\x99t define yourself through hierarchies and job titles; you are intrinsically motivated by the purpose of our organization\\xe2\\x80\\x99s benefits to patients and the impact of your work. English is the working language (oral & written), however additional language skills would be additive. The role is based in Basel, Switzerland.
