The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professorship of Computational Functional Tumor Pathology. The professorship is based at the Department of Pathology and Molecular Pathology of the University Hospital Zurich in close collaboration with the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine, which belongs to the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine, as well as with the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology of the University Hospital Zurich.
The successful candidate possesses solid knowledge of computer-based methods for image analysis and the analysis of multi-omics data in the context of pathology and oncology. In-depth expertise in tumor biology - particularly in the study of tumor heterogeneity, resistance mechanisms, and cellular plasticity - is required. The position further requires expertise in the use and development of AI-based approaches for image and data analysis. A general understanding of methods for in silico prediction, modeling, or data integration and/or of experimental techniques (e.g., ex vivo or in vitro analyses) is considered an asset. Ideally, the candidate has a strong interest in translational research questions and actively contributes to the development of innovative strategies to better understand complex biological processes in tumors and translate them into clinical applications.
The University of Zurich is a highly attractive institution for cutting edge research with plenty of opportunities for collaborations across its faculties and with its university hospitals. The nearby Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) is an additional asset. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the existing and to establish new collaborations within the hospital and with other research institutions.
