About the Position
The Officer, Media Relations & Fundraising Communications supports the organization's visibility and resource mobilization goals by managing media relationships and developing high-quality content to advance philanthropy and fundraising efforts. This hybrid role bridges external communications and donor engagement, ensuring the organization's story is effectively shared with both media audiences and supporters.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with an understanding of both humanitarian and security sectors, capable of balancing proactive media outreach with effective donor engagement.

Occasional travel may be required for media events or donor engagements.
Close collaboration with the Communications and Philanthropy teams to ensure consistency and alignment of external messaging.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations (50%)
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and other key stakeholders.
Draft and distribute press releases, statements, and media advisories.
Respond to media inquiries and coordinate interviews with organizational spokespeople.
Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing regular reports on visibility, trends, and public sentiment.
Support communications campaigns and public events to ensure strong media engagement.
Work with country communications focal points to identify and shape stories that showcase CIVIC's field impact and community perspectives.
Contribute to developing a balance between proactive and reactive media engagement to position CIVIC strategically
Maintain and regularly update the media contact database.
Philanthropy & Donor Communications (50%)
Develop and edit donor-focused content including success stories, impact narratives, fundraising appeals, and stewardship reports.
Support the creation of communication materials for major donors, foundations, and prospective partners, including content for fundraising campaigns, as well as brochures, presentations, web content, etc.
Collaborate with the fundraising and program teams to identify compelling stories and translate programmatic impact into engaging donor messages.
Leverage social media platforms strategically to support philanthropy and donor engagement efforts.
Assist in organizing and promoting donor events and engagement campaigns.
Ensure brand and message consistency across philanthropy-related materials.
Maintain a database of donor communications and key messaging documents.
Cross-cutting Tasks
Liaise successfully with the communications and the fundraising teams to ensure synergy between media and fundraising messages.
Contribute to the development of the organization's storytelling framework, highlighting both mission impact and donor contributions.
Ensure compliance with organizational style guides and ethical storytelling standards.
Manage social media intern.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field.
2-5 years of relevant experience in media relations, donor communications, or fundraising content creation, ideally in a non-profit or international organization.
Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
Understanding of communications for fundraising.
Proven ability to translate complex programmatic information into compelling human-centered stories.
Familiarity with media monitoring tools, CRM systems, digital fundraising platforms, and social media management.
Fluency in English; French and Arabic proficiency is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively across time zones and cultures.
Knowledge of conflict sensitivity and ethical storytelling principles is highly desirable.
