Located in Baar, Switzerland, Glencore has a role within its Risk Team for an Operational Risk and Trade Support Manager who will be responsible for developing Glencore\\xe2\\x80\\x99s clearing and reconciliation team. The successful candidate will have an important part in enhancing and developing the trade support function, with the opportunity to develop the role further to encompass Operational Risk (with the assistance of the Head of Department). This position will be based in Baar, it will report into the Global Head of Trade Support and Operational Risk based in London and, from time to time, will require some travel to Glencore\\xe2\\x80\\x99s other marketing offices.

In details, the position encompasses duties and responsibilities as follows:
  • Responsible, in conjunction with other local team leads, for the oversight of all swap derivatives & forwards transactions. Engage, support, and provide guidance to the team on the following tasks:
  • OTC Trade validation and confirmations of both paper and physical activity.
  • Administration of exchange-traded and OTC commodity futures, options, and other related financial instruments (e.g., swaps). Ensuring that Glencore systems are validated and reconciled to / with broker recaps and FCM data.
  • Exchange reference data management (broker commissions e.g., system mappings)
  • Assisting the Head of Department with operational management of FCM and CCP relationships.
  • In line with Segregation of Duty, support the Head of Department with the handover of particular tasks performed by other areas that should sit with Trade Support.
  • Perform system and control audits, delivering solutions to remove control inefficiencies and gaps.
  • Maintain a pro-active knowledge of exchange developments and ensure that any potential impact to the margining process is monitored. Coordinate with compliance to understand and assist in responding to any regulatory requirements as appropriate.
  • Manage a team of direct reports who are responsible for the activities noted above. This includes ensuring appropriate resourcing, recruitment and providing ongoing performance feedback.
  • Conducting a full analysis of incidents (incident response and reporting) and driving robust solution.
  • Maintain a line of defence model and a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Maintain high standards of conduct, compliance, ethics, risk management and control. Promote adherence to Glencore\\xe2\\x80\\x99s policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, particularly with Front Office, Compliance, Change Management, Credit and Risk Managers.
  • Engage and manage operational risk initiatives (Incident reporting, Trade accuracy, KRI/KPI generations and reporting \\xe2\\x80\\xa6)
  • Any additional ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time.
The ideal candidate disposes of:
  • Educated to degree level or similar level of experience.
  • Previous experience of swap derivatives & forwards transactions in a commodities environment (7 plus years)
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Exchange Traded Products and their Lifecycle
  • High technical skills capable of analysing complex trade level data and designing tools and solutions to improve focus of controls.
  • Operational risk experience (RCSA exercises, Incident reporting, KRI generation and reporting)
  • Understanding of the regulated environment and pro-active in ensuring compliance
  • Experience in seeking continuous improvement and willing to learn new subjects and acquire new skills.
  • Attention to detail and enhanced critical thinking skills required.
  • Effective leader and coach with previous managerial experience.
  • Expert communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Strong influencer with the added confidence to challenge as appropriate.
