We have developed our own Commodity Trading Risk Management (CTRM) system that covers all aspects of our business activities across the globe: from trade entry through middle-office with P&L reporting and price risk management down to invoicing and for whichever commodity we are trading: electricity, renewables, gas, crude oil, refined products, biofuels, or carbon certificates. Vitol is unique in the energy trading world in making our CTRM the core of our business processes that everyone at Vitol works with, often on a daily basis. We are looking for a technical architect with strong development experience and a keen interest in development to join our team.
The team you will join is responsible for:
Designing and maintaining the CTRM architecture, including the Oracle Forms framework, reporting architecture, web services, and job scheduler.
Monitoring and improving development quality through unit test, Jenkins automation, SonarQube, and adherence to development guidelines.
Training development teams on topics such as Oracle Forms, effective use of CTRM features, and development best practices.
Defining and updating development standards to ensure consistency and quality.
Contributing to or coordinating cross-functional projects.
Developing and deploying CTRM solutions.
You will also work closely with developers on technical architecture, design, and development tasks, including Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, and SQL.
Qualifications
Oracle Forms application development - minimum 5 years of experience
Strong Oracle database knowledge (release from 18c)
Proven data modelling skills to translate business situations into data structures, proficiency in SQL
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field
At least 5 years' experience in similar position(s), e.g. as a user-facing DB engineer
Entrepreneurial drive, ability to work independently as well as in a team
Proactive and user-focused "make it work" mentality with a genuine interest in the functional as well as technical aspects of each challenge encountered and comfortable with daily release cycle model
Willingness to help and collaborate across teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
