A postdoctoral position in research on ADP-ribosylation-mediated regulation of cancer is available immediately in the group of Prof. M.O. Hottiger at the Department of Molecular Mechanisms of Disease.
The Department of Molecular Mechanisms of Disease offers a stimulating research environment, consisting of a multi-disciplinary team with different expertise and actively promotes dynamic interactions between scientists.
The workplace is situated within the natural sciences campus and the hospital of the University of Zurich, the largest University in Switzerland and one of Europe's leading research centers. The departments are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure for biochemical, molecular, and cell biological investigations.
Your responsibilities

The project is funded by an Innosuisse grant and focuses on screening and validating small molecules that inhibit mono-ADP-ribosylation of proteins. The successful candidate will be expected to engineer cell lines, to optimize and conduct cell-based experiments, to validate and characterize a limited set predicted small molecule inhibitors, to statistically analyze data and to contribute to decision making in lead compound selection.
Your profile

We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with a solid background in cell- and molecular biology (PhD in Molecular or Systems Biology), who is ideally familiar with the genetic complementation of cells. Programming skills (e.g. Python, R, Java, C, C++) and advanced experience with statistics/analytics are an advantage.
The applicant should be an independent thinker and problem-solver who is willing to work in a team, have a strong publication record, and accept new challenges arising from working in a high-paced scientific environment. The applicant should also have good communication and entrepreneurial skills, a curiosity-driven attitude, and demonstrate enthusiasm and flexibility.
