Pricing Actuary - Reinsurance (80-100%)

Zurich, Switzerland

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join the International Reinsurance Pricing and Analytics team of AXA XL. The role of the Pricing Actuary is to provide pricing and analytical support to the worldwide Credit and Surety business but may also have exposure to other products and regions. The successful candidate will be expected to develop pricing methodologies and tools, to support the underwriting teams with individual deal pricing and portfolio analytics, and to provide management with a reliable and consistent view of the underwriting profitability. There will also be opportunities to participate in cross-region and/or cross-product projects at a Reinsurance segment level.

Reporting to the Head of Global Lines (International Re), the role will make an important contribution to AXA XL's treaty pricing capabilities. You will be a pro-active team player, who is eager to continue to develop their skills, and who possesses compelling communication and technical skills.

The International Re region of AXA XL writes approximately $1.5bn of annual gross written premium and provides significant career development opportunity for the right candidate over the longer term. Our region encompasses reinsurance markets across all parts of the world excluding Americas, and the business Pricing and Analytics team partners directly with underwriting and executive management as we look to develop and deliver our strategic growth plan.

What you'll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

Integral part of International Reinsurance Pricing and Analytics team, working actively within a cross-functional team, particularly with the Credit and Surety underwriters, who are based in Zurich, and other pricing team members around the world. Partner closely with the Credit & Surety underwriters. You will have responsibility for leading the development of the pricing and analytics tools required to support AXA XL Re's Credit & Surety portfolio. Advise Credit & Surety underwriters with treaty review/analysis during the renewals, either by carrying out the pricing directly or ensuring that the pricing is carried out using approved pricing models appropriately, depending on the complexity of the business and the guidelines in force for that sub-line of business. Partner with underwriters in the production of the monthly and quarterly exposure aggregate management reports for Credit reinsurance (including an analysis of exposure movements); also responsible for the annual parameterisation of relevant underwriting risk for the purposes of capital management. Excellent and ongoing communication with all members of the Credit & Surety underwriting team is essential for the success of the role. Working with the underwriters, you will also need to liaise with AXA XL's risk management functions and members of the capital management team. Develop consistency of approach, and lead pricing improvements. To that end, you will conduct ad hoc research and project work to furnish the underwriting team with analytical insight and help them make informed decisions. Design, produce and continually improve management information to assist underwriters and the management team. Responsible for actuarial elements of the business/strategic planning process relating to Credit & Surety. Coordinate with other actuaries in the International region in providing actuarial support across the various regional offices. Also work with actuaries in other regions on Reinsurance Segment projects where relevant. Liaise with the actuarial reserving team, in conjunction with the Credit & Surety underwriters, to ensure the flow of information is seamless.
