General Description
The position is a full time role to cover a 9 months maternity leave (from April 2026 until December 2026).The Learning Support Teacher provides 'push in' and 'pull out' support to students who have identified LS needs. The LS teacher works as both part of the Learning Support and Grade Level Teams and is supported and led by the Principal.

Areas of Responsibility
Teaching Duties

• Teach small pullout classes for LS students; individualise lessons according to SSP goals
• Teach students self-advocacy skills and involve them in the SSP process
• Provide in-class support to specific content lessons
• Support content teacher with lesson accommodations; scaffold lessons as necessary to support all caseload students
• Support other non-SSP students in classes as appropriate and as necessary MAP
• Administer departmental assessments and use data to monitor progress
• Write SSPs for designated grade level and conduct associated meetings; create SSPs that result in maximum educational benefit.
• Use data from multiple sources to identify need; allow needs to drive goals and service recommendations

• Inform & collaborate with teachers about SSP needs; ensure goals are being addressed
• Be aware of any discipline/attendance issues
• Be informed of health issues and address as needed in SSP
• Be the central point of contact for parents, student and staff for assigned students within the grade level
• Review grade level SSPs during the spring semester
• Suggest appropriate class placement to Grade Level Team during transition planning
• Ensure that accommodations are met for students on an SSP
• Collaboration and planning with teachers within the grade level and specialists and other LS teacher as needed
• Proctor and provide accommodations and modifications support to students taking the MAP and internal ISZL exams throughout the school year
• Provide testing concession support to classroom teachers for students needing extended testing time, using a laptop, requiring a scribe, etc.
• Communicate student progress regularly with parents, parents teacher conferences, SSPs, end of year report, emails, phone calls, or meetings as appropriate.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain student digital file information of meeting minutes, SSPs, reports, observations and relevant email communication
• Track Educational Psychological report dates; inform APs as updates are needed
• Observe referred grade level students
• Attend and participate proactively in weekly department meetings
• Supporting grade level teachers with collating ISR information information
• Attend ISR and GLSR meetings if requested
• Attend grade level meetings and meetings with teachers whose classes are supported
• Respond to email in a timely manner
• Create schedule and provide with most recent version on google calendar
• Adhere to all agreed upon timelines

Other

• Attend trainings for specific interventions; feedback to department
• Make recommendations for support materials and resources
• Confer with APs if or when concerns arise.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• The candidate should hold a recognised teaching qualification or certification
• Candidates with knowledge of the PYP curriculum framework and experience teaching within a pedagogy of inquiry-based learning, are preferred
• Candidates must have a Swiss or EU passport/valid Swiss work permit (or be approved for a Swiss work visa)
