Combine process and control engineering expertise to develop innovative Energy from Waste (EfW) solutions. Design and optimize control systems for combustion, flue gas treatment and water-steam cycles - typically using PLCs. Specify, review, and test externally programmed PLC code; able to read and interpret code for validation. Scout and integrate modern sensors and instrumentation into control systems and develop the required algorithms. Define control system architecture: hardware requirements, signal flow, and I/O lists. Conduct commissioning and testing of control systems on-site (approx. 10% travel within Europe). Collaborate across internal teams, clients, and suppliers for successful project delivery. Evaluate technical concepts and existing systems, spot weaknesses, and propose alternative solutions. Support the project manager by taking on deputy project management responsibilities.

Qualifications

University degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent) in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Thermodynamics, or Control Engineering, preferably with industry experience. Proven expertise in model-based control using Matlab and Simulink; able to independently develop, validate, and analyze engineering models, including sensitivity assessments. Basic knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens S7, structured text, ladder logic) and familiarity with communication bus systems is a plus. Flexible and adaptable, comfortable interacting with all levels--from senior management to technicians. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to autonomously prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations. Hands-on mindset with a practical approach to problem-solving. Proficient in English; additional languages such as German, French, Japanese, or Arabic are an advantage.
