Join the world class safety culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and be part of supporting the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Engineer. You will be responsible as Regional Safety Engineer of improving the health and safety of our data centers, enhancing safety culture, and supporting to protect our employees. Each day you will work with our data center operation teams but not only.
You will work closely with experts from security, construction, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources teams. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our safety culture. As AWS increases data capacity you will partner with construction managers to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to live operations. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products/processes.

This role is for an experienced Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer. The role\\\'s primary responsibility will be to support the safety operations for Data Centers.
You will be part of a regional and global team that works with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance the safety of operations. Close collaboration with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. Additionally, you will work with employees and contractors to achieve specific safety objectives.

You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. You will advise, instruct and train company personnel on safety policies and procedures, as well as assist the teams in incorporating and improving our safety standards at their sites.

Key job responsibilities
  • Implement safety standards, policies and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training material/content to support achievement of H&S objectives. Manage the training database for all employees and ensure all H&S training requirements are fulfilled.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors (General Contractors, sub-contractors, Emergency Services) as they relate to operations and construction.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
  • Develop and review safety plans for on-site emergencies and new builds.
  • Perform safety data analysis and create bench marking.
  • Ensure safety record keeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
  • Consult and work with compliance teams on safety regulations interpretation and investigation.
  • Develop and implement solutions to mitigate risks and prevent injuries.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines.
  • To be able to work as part of a team and provide safety support to regions outside of local cluster when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
About the team
You will report to the Regional Safety Manager based in CDG and be responsible for continuing to enhance the safety of operations and construction. Some domestic and international travel is required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Occupational Safety Specialist in accordance with the Swiss Law Art. 11(d) VUV :
- Occupational engineers or safety professionals who meet the requirements of Ordinance of 25 November 1996 on the Qualification of Occupational Safety Specialists ; or
- Persons in their capacity as safety specialists who have successfully passed the federal exam for occupational safety and health specialists, in accordance with Examination Ordinance of 7 August 2017 on the professional examination for occupational safety and health specialists
  • Minimum 5+ years of field experience in Safety.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A good knowledge of the MSST directive and local H&S regulation.
  • Considerable knowledge of local safety and health regulatory laws and practices and workplace safety.
  • Experience / knowledge of implementing safety programs, processes and procedural documentation.
  • Data center, manufacturing, construction, or similar industry safety experience with mix of full time employees and third party contractors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders.
  • High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
