About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Senior Back-End Developer (COBOL). In this position, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining core applications that handle debit card transaction processing on HP NonStop systems. You'll work in a dynamic and collaborative environment across multiple European locations including Switzerland, Belgium, Romania, Italy, and Spain.
This is a permanent position based in Zurich or Biel with hybrid work flexibility. It offers excellent opportunities to contribute to critical financial infrastructure and grow your expertise in high-availability systems.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support COBOL-based back-end applications for transaction processing
• Ensure system stability, performance, and compliance with financial industry standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-country teams to deliver scalable solutions
• Implement new features and system enhancements based on business needs
• Provide third-level support and participate in performance tuning and optimization initiatives

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
• Strong professional experience with COBOL in enterprise or payment environments
• Proficiency with C++ and SQL; Java or C knowledge is a strong plus
• Experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) platforms highly desirable
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proactive, team-oriented, and eager to learn
• Fluent English is required; German or French is a plus
