Your key responsibilities

• Take ownership of a diverse portfolio of clients, including both domestic and international companies registered for VAT in Switzerland, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional service and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Lead the comprehensive onboarding process for new clients at EY, ensuring a seamless transition and integration into EY's services.
• Guide companies through the registration process for Swiss VAT, whether they are facing mandatory or voluntary VAT liabilities, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Ensure the accuracy and quality of prepared VAT returns, overseeing their timely submission to the Swiss Federal Tax Administration to meet all deadlines.
• Provide expert assistance during VAT audits, representing clients and ensuring that all necessary documentation and information are readily available.
• Mentor and train junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in VAT and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the team.
• Collaborate on initiatives to automate various processes, driving improvements in efficiency and effectiveness across the team.
• Actively participate in the ongoing enhancement of VAT services, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement to better serve clients.

Skills and attributes for success

• Bachelor or master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Tax, Law, or equivalent; an ongoing or completed Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in VAT is a distinct advantage.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in indirect tax compliance, ideally acquired at a Big Four firm, a comparable consulting firm, or within a fiduciary (Treuhand). Experience as an in-house VAT compliance officer is also highly valued.
• In-depth understanding of Swiss VAT regulations and compliance requirements, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong eye for detail and accuracy, enabling you to navigate complex tax issues and provide strategic solutions.
• Fluent in German and English, essential for our international portfolio. Proficiency in additional foreign languages is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
