To strengthen our Legal & Compliance team, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with experience in commercial and corporate law. You will be part of a dedicated and supportive team consisting of three lawyers and one associate and will report directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance.

Your responsibilities
  • Supporting our business and all departments in legal and regulatory matters and handling their general legal queries
  • Providing the full range of legal support and advice in the sphere of a supervised Swiss legal entity including reinsurance supervisory topics, contract law, corporate governance, privacy regulations (FDPA, GDPR), labor law, etc.
  • Being the legal partner of our Weather & Agro Team: drafting OTC-derivatives related agreements for risk transfer solutions to protect from the impact of variable and unpredictable wind, solar irradiation, precipitation and streamflow and provide legal advice
  • Reviewing and keeping up to date with changes in regulatory, legislative and market practice, in the area of reinsurance, but also concerning derivatives (FinfraG / EMIR)
  • Assessing transactions/activities and advising on legal and compliance risks by providing mitigation solutions
  • Managing existing and implementing new compliance procedures and policies relating to Swiss regulatory and Munich Re Group requirements
  • Encouraging a compliance culture to prevent illegal, unethical and improper behaviour
  • Advising and training NewRe\\\'s staff on compliance matters
Your profile
  • Swiss master in law (MLaw/lic.iur.), your skills and qualifications will ideally include an admission to the Swiss bar
  • Relevant experience of at least 5 years as an in-house legal counsel in the financial industry (preferably in the (re)insurance industry) or as a lawyer in a law firm with international orientation
  • Knowledge or interest in insurance supervisory law; exposure to OTC-derivatives work would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and social skills
  • Proactive, dynamic and flexible personality
  • Team, solution- and result-orientated
  • Able to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Fluent in English and German
