About the Role
As Senior Legal Counsel in the Group Board Services team, you will work closely with the Head of the Chairman's Office, the Group Company Secretary, the Head of Group Board Services, team members, and other key stakeholders to deliver high-quality corporate governance services and strategic legal advice to the Group Board of Directors, the Group Executive Committee, and the wider organisation. Your expertise will ensure that Swiss Re maintains the highest standards of corporate governance while effectively navigating complex regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and coordinate updates to Swiss Re Group corporate governance documentation including governing documents of Swiss Re Ltd (holding company) and Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd (main operating entity)
  • Prepare for and support the Annual General Meeting of Swiss Re Ltd and Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd, including invitations, legal documentation and related organizational tasks
  • Lead the preparation of the corporate governance sections of the Annual Report, with a particular focus on the Corporate Governance Report
  • Manage regulatory filings with FINMA, including approvals of senior management and Board appointments as well as organizational changes, and maintain a good relationship with the regulator
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements at the highest board and management level
  • Provide expert legal and governance guidance to subsidiaries on corporate and licensing requirements worldwide
  • Support, develop, and help shape the company secretarial practice at Group level
  • Serve as deputy to the Group Company Secretary
About the Team
The Group Board Services team plays a central role in supporting the Chairman, the Board of Directors, the Head Chairman's Office and the Group Company Secretary. It is responsible for managing end-to-end Board and Committee processes, ensuring the effective preparation and execution of all meetings. The team also coordinates stakeholder interactions with senior management and external parties, provides legal and paralegal support, and oversees administrative and logistical matters for the Chairman and Board members. In addition, it ensures the seamless organization and high-quality delivery of Swiss Re's Annual General Meeting.
About You
You are a detail-oriented legal professional with sound judgment and proven ability to navigate complex corporate governance matters. Your collaborative approach and strong communication skills allow you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, while consistently upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • Swiss qualified lawyer with admission to the bar (Attorney at law)
  • Minimum of 7 years' working experience in an international law firm or large corporation
  • In-depth Corporate Governance expertise, particularly with companies listed on the Swiss stock exchange
  • Financial institutions experience, preferably in re/insurance
  • Proficiency in both English and German
These are additional nice to haves:
  • Experience in managing regulatory relationships with FINMA
  • Background in board-level advisory roles
  • Project management certification or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior legal professionals
  • Knowledge of international corporate governance best practices
For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between 164,000 and 246,000 CHF (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
  • the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role
  • the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
