We are looking for a

Senior Manager, Special Issues Management

, who will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and leadership in managing high-sensitivity issues that pose significant reputational and regulatory risks. It involves developing and executing global communications strategies for complex challenges such as litigation, regulatory investigations, scientific scrutiny, and activist campaigns. The position requires proactive issue identification and prioritization across markets, close collaboration with Legal, Regulatory, and External Affairs teams to ensure aligned and credible messaging, and acting as the communications lead in cross-functional response efforts. Additionally, the role focuses on scenario planning through playbooks, long-term reputation management, and delivering executive-level briefings, while maintaining a repository of lessons learned to strengthen future preparedness and narrative recovery.

Key Accountabilities:




Strategic Oversight of High-Sensitivity Issues


Lead global communications strategy and response for complex, high-risk issues including litigation, regulatory investigations, scientific scrutiny, and activist campaigns
Issue Identification & Prioritization


Monitor and assess emerging issues, identifying those with potential to escalate into reputational or regulatory crises Cross-Functional Collaboration


Partner closely with Legal, Regulatory, External Affairs to ensure communications are aligned, legally sound, and scientifically credible Act as the communications lead in cross-functional issue response teams, driving message development and stakeholder engagement Scenario Planning & Preparedness


Develop and maintain issue-specific playbooks and response frameworks Reputation Management & Long-Term Mitigation


Track the evolution of special issues over time, identifying opportunities for proactive engagement Provide strategic counsel on long-term reputation recovery and narrative repositioning following high impact incidents Reporting & Executive Briefings


Deliver regular updates to the Global Communications Leadership Team and C-suite on issue status, risk level, stakeholder reactions Maintain a repository of case studies and lessons learned to inform future strategy.

We're looking for someone with:




Core Skills

Strategic Communications Expertise: Ability to craft and execute global communication strategies under high-pressure, high-risk scenarios. Crisis & Issues Management: Proven experience in handling complex, sensitive issues such as litigation, regulatory investigations, and reputational crises. Stakeholder Engagement: Strong capability to influence and collaborate with senior executives, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders. Analytical & Risk Assessment: Skilled in monitoring emerging issues, assessing potential impact, and prioritizing responses. Scenario Planning & Preparedness: Experience developing playbooks, frameworks, and contingency plans for crisis situations. Executive Communication: Ability to deliver clear, concise briefings and reports to C-suite and leadership teams. Reputation Management: Expertise in long-term narrative repositioning and proactive engagement strategies.
Other Skills:

Education: Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or related fields. Experience: 8-10+ years in corporate communications, public affairs, or crisis management, ideally in a global, regulated industry. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory environments, litigation processes, and activist campaigning. Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated success working with Legal, Regulatory, and External Affairs teams. Global Perspective: Experience managing issues across multiple markets and cultural contexts. Technical Skills: Proficiency in monitoring tools, media analytics, and digital communication platforms.
