Senior Performance Development Expert

Responsibilities



As part of a small dynamic team of experts, you will define engine retrofit solutions and implement them on vessels world-wide. Your extensive experience in the field will be critical for this role and highly valued within the global organization. In particular, you satisfy the role by mastering the following responsibilities.
Lead planning, design, and implementation of complex and innovative marine engine retrofits. Investigate, numerically and experimentally, technology options for optimizing performances of 2-stroke engines retrofits with focus on scavenging, combustion and turbocharging processes. Develop tuning campaigns for retrofitted engines and conduct them on the vessel. Lead actively to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in marine engine retrofitting. Serve as technical authority for internal and external stakeholders in all aspects of marine engine retrofit performance. Define and maintain engine and system performance data based on simulations and testing results. Generate detailed performance reports.



Requirements


MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Ing. ETH or HTL / FH or equivalent) with focus on combustion engines. More than 10 years of relevant experience desirable. Expert knowledge in thermodynamics, scavenging, combustion (gas and liquid fuels) and turbocharging processes at the heart of 2-stroke engines (both Otto and Diesel cycle engines). Experience with engine simulation tools like GT Power. Solid background on engine tuning. Open for working on vessels and traveling (mainly Asia) several weeks - months per year. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and take initiative. Strong communication skills (ability to communicate effectively with both internal & external customers) and team player. Good command of English language (written & oral). German appreciated.
