Software Engineer For Drone Choreography

Zürich, Switzerland

Job Description

The Role:
As Verity's autonomous drones light up stages worldwide, we're looking for a unique talent: someone who combines engineering expertise with a creative eye for live entertainment. You'll help design and build the tools that shape the next generation of drone shows but you'll also play a hands-on role in choreographing and delivering those shows for world-class artists such as Celine Dion, Justin Bieber and productions like Eurovision.
We are Entrepreneurs, Engineers, Artists, Professionals, Mathematicians, and Designers; all working as one.
What you'll do:
The role is two-fold; the position will devote at least 50% of the time to development work on:

  • Designing and implementing graphical user interfaces for drone show choreography tools
  • Developing and improving trajectory generation and visualization algorithms
  • Working closely with other choreographers and creative teams to translate their needs into intuitive software solutions
The other part of the work will be devoted to working on new shows, including:
  • Collaborating with clients, directors, and creatives to design stunning drone choreographies
  • Programming and testing choreographies for new shows
  • Traveling on-site (10-20%) to help deliver shows worldwide
What you bring:
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
  • Strong programming skills (C++ required; Python as a plus)
  • Experience developing graphical user interfaces (Qt, React, web stack, or similar)
  • Creative mindset and ability to discuss artistic concepts with non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new topics
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to travel (10-20%)
Additional Plus:
  • Experience with front-end development or interactive tools for artists
  • Background in live entertainment, animation, or similar creative fields
Who you are:
  • Comfortable switching between deep technical work and creative discussions
  • You have a start-up mentality and thrive in an environment where you must be flexible and jump into different projects and roles when necessary
  • Team player with high problem-solving competence, capable of working independently in a fast-moving environment
Why Verity?
  • A great engineering culture, including flat hierarchies, an open-door policy, and a focus on joint responsibility and mutual trust and support
  • Working with a skilled, high-achieving, experienced, and fun team--with lots of opportunities to develop your professional career and grow with the company
  • Flexibility of a hybrid work environment. You can arrange start and finish times around your life (picking up kids, walking the dog, training for your next marathon at lunch)
  • 25 days of annual leave, employee stock ownership plan (conditions apply), variety of pension plans, and relocation packages
  • A buddy will support you during your onboarding and first month at Verity.
  • Annual team-building events, quarterly and monthly get-togethers, knowledge-sharing talks, game nights, and more
  • Welcoming office space complete with friendly team members, free snacks (fresh fruits, coffee, and more!), and fun activities--we're dog-friendly!
