About the project



For a project in the

Human Retinal & Central Visual Circuits Group

, we are looking for a student research assistant to support routine-based immunohistochemistry work on fixed human retina. We test AAV-based genetic tools to target specific cell types in the retina. For our project, we aim to quantify the efficiency of these tools in the human retina using

immunohistochemistry

.


Your position




Carrying out

immunohistochemistry stainings

on human retina (routine protocols) Pipetting, washing/incubating (including primary and secondary antibodies) according to established protocols Mounting the retina samples on microscope slides Imaging the stained samples on the spinning-disk microscope (optional) Careful documentation (e.g., protocols, sample and antibodies used) and coordination with the project supervisor.

Your profile




Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program (e.g., Biology, Biomedicine, Neuroscience, Chemistry, Medicine, or similar) Very careful, structured, and reliable way of working

Experience with pipetting

and standard lab techniques;

immunohistochemistry

is an advantage but not required (training possible) Interest in retina/neurobiology, immunohistochemistry and microscopy Good English skills (institute/lab language)
