The University of Zurich (UZH) invites applications for an Engineer/Physicist to support the development and operation of its new clean room research facility for semiconductor detectors. This clean room will become a core infrastructure for the UZH High-Energy Physics group and external collaborators for development of innovative high-precision silicon tracking detectors for future particle physics experiments and colliders, with a special focus on the high-intensity muon beamlines (HIMB) at PSI.



The present activities of the High Energy Physics groups at UZH span from the upgrade of the CMS and LHCb Tracker systems to the development of LGAD, MAPs and quantum sensors.


Your responsibilities

Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of technical instrumentation in the new clean room complex, including probe stations, wire bonders, coordinate measuring machines, x-rays and laser characterization set-ups. Ensure that all instrumentation remains operational and properly calibrated. Actively participate in measurement campaigns supporting R&D on semiconductor detectors, both for the UZH group and for visiting collaborators. Contribute to the daily operation of the clean room and to the technical interface with research users.

Your profile


----------------


Technical or university degree in physics, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field. Experience with lab instrumentation, ideally in clean room or precision measurement environments. Strong hands-on skills and ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with researchers. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with self-motivation. Fluent communication in English and ability to document your work in writing.
